Meditation
Meditation provides an important method to begin to find the inner peace and connection necessary throughout all phases of a spiritual journey. Science has shown that meditation is useful in relieving stress, lowering blood pressure, and help people cope with depression.
What is Meditation?
Much has been written about the purpose of mediation and the various meditation techniques that are practiced around the world. Basically, meditation can be viewed as a practice that allows a person to focus their mind or attention on an internal view of themselves (connect to their soul and the Divine).
A very detailed and helpful discussion of meditation can found on Wikipedia. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meditation)
The first image that comes to mind that associates with meditation is a person sitting on the floor in a lotus position with eyes closed. While this is a popular and important meditation style, particularly for people who are just beginning a meditation practice, there are many other techniques or styles practiced that are equally effective.
Some of the meditation techniques that are taught at Love Guided Living include sitting on the floor, sitting in a chair, lying down, standing, walking outdoors, chanting, and drumming. Guided meditations are also available.
While dedicating time for your meditation practice is important, selecting a specific time or place is not important as the Divine is available 24/7.
The best meditation style, like most aspects of our spiritual journey, really depends on individual goals and happiness. There is no right or wrong way to meditate, so we encourage you to try them all!
It is also important to recognize that not every meditation session result in the attainment of bliss . While bliss is certainly a pleasurable and exciting place to attain, meditation can bring even more peace and joy when you go within and experience your connection with your soul. Once you can routinely connect to your inner self or soul, peace and love becomes a lifestyle and a connection with the Divine becomes very natural.
Like most things in life, the more you meditate the easier it becomes, and your joy increases. You may even find that you are beginning to meditating without meditating .
